All of us have experienced trauma in our lifetimes and the typical reaction has been to push it to the side and move forward. The extent of the effects of the trauma varies from person to person based on our differing perceptions. For some, the trauma may be one or two serious events. For others, it may be a series of smaller stressors, which have built up over the course of years. Either way, our day-to-day interactions and overall wellbeing are affected when left untreated. Through an average of 8-12 sessions, EMDR matches the event(s) to the emotions and allows you to properly process through it. While the event never goes away, your response to it changes and as a result you are able to live a fuller, lighter, happier life.
